Hi all, this is something new within the SaddleDrunk Family.
Apart from the social side we have formed a Racing Team. The official presentation of the team will be at a later date. Sponsors presentation has been given previously on a weekly notice.
We are an amateur racing team with an exceptional passion for cycling. We were out last weekend for the first time of season 2015 taking part at few races locally in the various categories within the British Cycling structure.
The initial team squad was going to be half dozen due to family commitments and others, where some of us were going to race in 2 events within few hours. But on saturday morning it was a difference story. Steven & I had to travel 75 miles to reach Adam in Hampshire in taking part at the first race of Ludgershall Winter Series. Unfortunately due to unforeseen health conditions by both of us were kept forced to withdraw from both events. Adam, found himself alone, sending messages to me like "thanks for the stitch up!". He was correct in writing that, especially after i forced him to take part in the morning race, convinced by the fact I knew he could have won the Cat 4th race.
In fact Adam, won the race in Ludgershall, alone with no team mates. He spoke to me after the race and he was really pleased, apart from the cold, mud, windy he had to deal with.Youth is on his side.
The next races were in the afternoon in Hillingdon,West London, for the most endearing series in the British Cycling calendar, The Imperial Winter Series. The squad for this event was left with Adam & Ben in the cat 4th races and Michael in the Elite/1/2 race.
Michael sitting now 13th in the Series Leader Board, had to maintain his position within it raced very well finishing 8th/9th.
In the cat 4th we had racing the newly winner Adam, with no legs left on him but with enough points to jump up to cat 3, and Ben ,hungry for point to jump up to cat 3.
It was another windy day at Hillingdon, and the cat 4 race was as usual an interesting game. We had people being overlapped times after times but still in the race and especially interfering with the final sprint. We also had people sprinting from the back to the front and within a nanosecond at the back again. Another great concern of safety. At the same time the ladies ride was running smoothly with no issues, just fast, clean, calm race.
The result of the cat 4 was Ben finishing second and grabbing enough point to jump to cat 3. About Adam, we don't know where he is. He shouted at me, in the last lap on the side of the track that he had no legs on him. He is probably sleeping in the grass around the track.
After all it was a great day out for the SaddleDrunk Racing Team. For British Cycling we are racing under the name of SD Racing Team, to shorten up the name.
At this event the riders raced with a standard SD Kit with no sponsors, due to the fact the kit has been made at the current time in Italy and will be with us soon.
We sincerely apologies to our sponsors, in reference to the kit used at the races now.
Until next race race safely.
