West London Cycling Club

Many years ago – when I moved to Ealing, west London – I was looking for a cycling club to join. Unfortunately there were not many around and some seemed more like exclusive private members' clubs. They were not the welcoming spaces I had hoped to find.

After talking to a close friend, Panos, at a local coffee shop he mentioned to me about some other coffee drinkers who were also cyclists. Ed, Peter & I started meeting up at Munson’s coffee shop for our rides to explore the beautiful countryside surrounding London.

We are proud to say that we made some good foundations in what would eventually become SaddleDrunk Cycling Club.

The club is based in Ealing with members of various abilities, genders & ages. The club provides a variety of ride levels, training, courses and cycling holidays.

If you would like to join do not hesitate to contact the club on the SaddleDrunk CC website.

Come and enjoy the fun, and share the passion with friends.

Women Cycling, UCI WOMENS TEAM 2021

With many years working with the female cyclists we have decided this year to step up and support a professional team to enable us to have our kit tested under continuous stress conditions and getting a constant feedback to continuously improve to the highest levels.

Therefore now please to announce the UCI has finally registered the team for the season 2021, which will be wearing a colourful kit resembling the Brasilian colours and also the various national champions in the team. At the moment we have 3 national champions that this will give us a great exposure for the brand on those countries.

Below is a bit of history about the team, but from now on you have a new team to support.

UCI WOMEN’S CONTINENTAL TEAM

MEMORIAL SANTOS SADDLEDRUNK

Created in 2000 from the initiative of businessman Pepe Altstut and the journalist Fábio Maradei, Memorial-Santos cycling team today is the most traditional Brazilian's team and have been won all the possible titles in road and track cycling in national territory.

After 20 seasons, more than 150 cyclists from all corners of the country - and some other countries in South America - wore the team's traditional blue uniform, between men and women.

Intending to develop Brazilian women's cycling in 2018 the team ran for the first time an European season. Having stayed for 3 months in Belgian soil. In 2019 we believed we were on the right way and got the UCI license for the first time! From 2020 so we started an even greater internationalization of our team with the entry of European riders. However we were unable to test ourselves on the roads due to the pandemic. For 2021 we are ready for a complete European season, being now the only UCI team in Latin America, we have improved the team with new and strong riders:

Adriele Alves Mendes from Brazil

Ana Paula Casetta from Brazil

Ana Paula Polegatch from Brazil

Anna Van Wersch from Netherlands

Denise Aracely Ahumada Riquelme from Chile

Chile National Champion

Gravelistas

Playing with the dirty tracks has become a notorious trend around the globe. From the hot & dry land of east Africa to the cold & windy of Iceland the new sport is rapidly expanding at an accelerated speed that the cycling industry is experiencing.

In the last few years the Gravel has taken different levels that even the UCI has placed some PRO races for the teams & spectators. New range of bikes, clothing and accessories have swamped the shops and magazines and the road cyclists are now transiting to the new discipline.

It is also interesting to see those adamants mountain bikers also joining in the part and experience lengthier rides that previously were only a long distance mirage.I have personally started riding gravel for a while now and I quite love it.

I hope it is not an age thing.

I have ben using my gravel bike on the roads which gives me extra comfort thanks to the soft & wider tyres makes., and this little extra helps enables me to go out of the normal path encountered with the eyesight, but also the pleasure to get dirty with sand, stones & mud.

I have been travelling and exploring the South American countries in the last few years discovering new roads, people and sceneries that we are really proud to launch a long term relationship with the team of Gravel Coast in Chile.

The October edition will be the first, thanks to the Covid-19 it has been postponed and we will have a small group of us joining in plus a full pack of other adventures.

Buongiorno a tutti.

Some of Carl’s Friend.

Some of Carl’s Friend.

Lockdowns & Covid-19 restrictions has brought more people to be more active and enjoy more the community vibes.

We have decided with the help of Jacob Best to start a collaboration with Running Free in Poole to help & support our lost friend Carl.

Carl was a person that loved any sports he practiced. He put passion, determination and commitment to anything he did.He made everyone around him smile & laugh into tears. His smile is missed by anyone had a pleasure to meet him.

As you might be aware we have designed a CAV’s line where those designs describe Carl’s life. All the profit made from the sales of any garments will be donate to his family.

From today you are able to purchase the running top in person at the Running Free shop in Poole.

We would like to say thank you in advance to anyone supporting the cause.
